Last night playing at Jazz Café, was the new jazz sensation ‘Soulwara’ at Townsend Hall at Waigani. This young group brings across a fresh style of music called jazz fusion. An event hosted by Attitude Plus, Jazz Café, provides a platform for jazz music, artists and musicians to showcase their talent.
Soulwara is a jazz fusion band that collectively got together in March. Band founder, Ofasia Wayne, while serving for two years abroad with Operational Mobilization on their ship called Logos Hope, came to realise his passion for music. Upon his return, he gathered his friends and thus Soulwara was conceived. Although jazz is not usually listened to by listeners in the nation, Wayne says, the band incorporates jazz with different styles of music giving it a jazz fusion style.
Founder and CEO of Attitude Plus, Ganjiki Wayne says Jazz Café is a platform for Jazz musicians. It is a place where individuals can gather to have coffee, and chat with friends while enjoying the good music.
Pastor Peter Bogembo, of P2-UIF, a well-renowned musician, applauded the young men for taking such initiatives for this new sound of music. He talked about how music changes lives.
Jazz Café will be a monthly event and is scheduled for the 24th of June, next month where a bass off will take place.
