Iranian Asylum seeker detained

Loghman Sawari is currently being detained by police.

The police are treating the case as a serious offense as it deals with important documents such as the passport and visa.

Police say this case is the first of its kind regarding an asylum seeker.

Sawari travelled on a PNG passport, with PNG immigration yet to release a statement on how he was able to obtain one.

Loghman Sawari managed to board a flight last week, from Port Moresby to Nadi Fiji using a PNG passport.

EMTV News was at the airport waiting for Loghman Sawari to be escorted out of the airport terminal.

He arrived in the country at Noon, with the International Organisation for Migration and United Nation Human Rights present for his arrival.

While at the airport PNG immigration advised that he was being interrogated by officers from immigration and the police.

The interrogation lasted for six hours before he was secretly escorted out of the terminal, avoiding the media, and hurriedly driven away at 5:30pm.
