While most attention has been focused on improving the main roads in the city, feeder roads are being neglected and left to deteriorate.
Several residents from the Moresby Northwest electorate at Waigani and Hohola are frustrated with this negligence from road authorities.
Their main point of contention is to question where all the taxpayers' money has gone.
A road at Waigani, leading to Morata in the Nation’s Capital, has recently been upgraded. But as you turn right into one of the streets opposite the road, it is a totally different sight.
Residents here say the road has not been maintained for the past 22 years. They have asked their local MP’s but the response is not forthcoming.
Most times, they have to fix the roads themselves. The story is similar at Hohola.
Bill Seri has watched the road in his street deteriorate before his eyes. But their numerous pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
Motorists like Julius Dimara know too well the damage bad roads have on vehicles.
He has endured this for years and has even written to the NCDC but the response is all too familiar.
