The United Nations told EMTV News that the 2018 National Budget is crucial for Papua New Guinea as an implementor of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
UN Resident Coordinator, Roy Trivedy, said by 2030 these goals have to be achieved.
This Parliament has an important role to play in ensuring a fair distribution of wealth.
With a budget, there is spending and then development.
However, he said that resources need to back up the many Government policies.
“Funding promised needs to be delivered for planning purpose,” said Trivedy.
The UN Resident Coordinator has confidence on the National Government the provision of basic goods and service delivery.
