Entrepreneurs Happy with Regional Visit

People in the Small to Medium Enterprise or SME’s in Eastern Highlands, are happy of the visit by the APEC delegate.

Wilma Kua, a bilum weaver was glad to have showcased some of her projects to the international visitors.

Bafi Sita is a bilum weaver who comes from the Yungai – Bena District in Eastern Highlands.

She weaves bilum and sells to make money to support her family. In a week, Sita can weave up to three bilums of different patterns. She is one of the 30 weavers who sell bilums in Goroka town.

Wilma Kua comes from Chimbu. She works with Tour Operators, a small company that arranges trips for tourists to significant sites in Papua New Guinea. Kua has worked with Tour Operators for eight years.

Apart from site seeing, Tour Operators buy handicrafts and artefacts from locals and re-sell them to visitors.

The exhibition yesterday is an avenue where local producers came out to promote their produce or products.
