Election Media Centre officially opened

The Media Centre for the 2017 National Election was officially opened today by Electoral Commissioner, Patilias Gamato.

It is located at the Electoral Headquarters in Port Moresby, the centre will function as an information hub for accredited journalists throughout the polling and counting period.

It will be operational from June 24th when the polling begins until polling ends on 25th July.

Electoral Commissioner, Patilias Gamato, said it is the main instrument for the PNGEC to communicate and share election related information and counting results.

Gamato said all information and results available at the centre will be verified, cleared and validated by the relevant branches of the PNGEC.

During polling the centre will open from 8am to 6pm and as soon as counting starts, working hours will be extended from 7am till midnight.

The centre will monitor online progressive polling statistics and regularly updated results.
