DWU HOLDS 18TH MISSIONING CEREMONY

Divine Word University, Madang Campus, has held its 18th Missioning Ceremony, commissioning final year students to go out and serve their communities with compassion and integrity.

DWU President Professor Fr. Philip Gibbs, SVD, said the occasion is a time of thanksgiving as the university celebrates 30 years, noting that DWU education is not just about academic achievement but about becoming a person of value.

Keynote speaker Mr. David Kitchnoge, Chief Investment Officer of Kumul Consolidated Holdings, challenged students to lead with character and purpose.

“Our country needs good people to lead it, not just brilliant minds, but people who can think with their hearts,” he said.

He added that employers seek trustworthy people with the right attitude.

Ms. Maria Huaniangre, National Fisheries Authority Madang Port Manager, encouraged students to uphold strong values.

“Your degree will open doors, but your character will keep them open and determine how far you go,” she said, stressing integrity, honesty, respect and humility.

Archbishop Douglas Young encouraged graduates to view the world with compassion and use their knowledge and skills to genuinely serve people.

The highlight was the presentation of the blessed Missioning Cross to final year students, symbolizing their commitment to carry forward DWU values and serve with heart.
