Displaced Settlers: Move us back

More than 200 settlers from a settlement in Lae, Morobe are residing at the Morobe Governor’s official residence.

They have fled their homes at Sialum compound after a clash since September 4 last year.

The Law and Order Chairman for Lae District, Sam Oyaya, has called on authorities to settle the matter quickly.

This group consists of people from Sialum, Pindiu and Kabwum areas of the Province.

These include children, women and elderly people.

They would like to move back to their original place of residence but cannot because they are being threatened.

Two men from the community were killed during the clash and more than 80 houses were burnt.

The ethnic clash and violence in the country, especially in Morobe Province, has left many people dead and homeless.

The current living condition for these people here at the state house is not safe.
