2014 PNG Games Ambassador, Dika Toua, has challenged female athletes to strive for success at the PNG Games in Lae next month.
The Commonwealth Weightlifting Champion was in Lae to promote the games and conduct awareness on sports and healthy living.
As part of her visits, she also visited schools and sponsors of the PNG Games. With 17 days to go, before the PNG Games begins in Lae, the momentum is building towards the opening ceremony.
The games organisers said the inclusion of Dika Toua as one of the ambassadors was to promote high level of training and commitment by the athletes.
This morning, she visited the Lae Secondary School, one of the schools, which are contributing athletes for the PNG Games.
Her message was simple: hard work, commitment and sacrifice. During her visits today, many people had the opportunity to chat with the twice Commonwealth champion, who won silver at the Melbourne and gold at the Delhi Games respectively.
This is the second time she has been chosen to be part of PNG Games in promoting the event. For Dika, she wants to see many young athletes elevated at the PNG Games, especially female athletes.
The visit was also to lift the Games’ spirit as provinces prepare to send in their teams, for the biggest sporting event in the nation.
Just last month, another sporting legend and PNG Games ambassador Scott Prince was in town.
Scott Prince, Livingstone Sogoli, Toea Wisil and Dika are the four games ambassadors for the 2014 PNG Games.
