DHERST to arrange UPNG students travel

By Staycey Yalo – EMTV News, Port Moresby

While all universities have agreed to sort out their TESAS students’ tickets from funding from DHERST, University of Papua New Guinea students’ tickets was to have been sorted out by DHERST.

DHERST Secretary, Father Jan said students tickets were sent to addresses provided by them.

Father Jan, was responding to complaints by students who have bought their own tickets to come in time for school registrations.

The last two weeks, students have been lining up to register for studies. This has been a typical sight at UPNG campus, as students brave the heat and queue up before school begins next week.

Many have been waking up as early as 5am and lining up on campus by 6am.

Students have been urged to complete registration before next week Monday, or face a penalty fee of K50.

Some students have complained that they had bought their own ticket to come on Port Moresby, as their tickets were not organized in time, or had arrived at another address.

Father Jan said in the event that a refund should be made, the department will see that it happens, especially for TESAS students at UPNG.
