CBC On Easter 2021 with COVID

In a statement released today, the Catholic Bishops Conference said in light of the rising numbers of COVID-19 throughout the country, individuals must be reminded to care for other people and the human community.

President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of PNG and Solomon Islands and Archbishop of Madang, Anton Bal, said everybody should be responsible for their own health and cooperate with authorities by practicing the safety measures being issued by the Controller’s office.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Sir John Ribat, in a news conference this morning said celebrations of the holy week will be not commemorated as usual compared to yesteryears because of covid19.

Instead, Catholic faithfuls will celebrate holy week in their respective parishes.

He also says the church is in support of the vaccine.

President of CBC PNG and Solomon Islands, Archbishop, Anton Bal, attested to that in a statement saying, Pope Francis supports the global vaccination efforts, while fully respecting the freedom of choice by individuals.

Archbishop Bal, urged people to consider availing of the vaccination opportunity being provided first to PNG’s front-line health workers.
