The Adelaide Strikers had an impressive win on Wednesday night over the Sydney Thunders by 77 runs, in the T20 Big Bash League, in Sydney.
And the man behind the abrupt end to the Thunders’ title-defending season was, invited Black Hats’ 24-year-old spin bowler, Ish Sohdi, who took out six wickets with just 21 balls, and 11 runs in stunning fashion.
After winning the toss, the Sydney Thunders got off to a good start.
Though, the top order did not stay long, before exiting the crease.
With three consecutive wins behind them, the Thunders were hoping to make a fourth, but little did they know, the Adelaide Strikers had a secret weapon, New Zealand Black Hat’s spin bowler, Ish Sohdi.
Thunder’s Opening Batsman Kurtis Patterson made 29 runs after 4 overs, and Shane Watson brought home, 39 runs in the next 4 overs.
That was when Ish Sohdi was injected to stall runs, and the Spin Bowler did not only stall, he made sure the Thunders lost 6 wickets, in just under 21 balls and 11 runs.
By the time the Thunders were all out, there were only 101 runs to be chased by the Adelaide Strikers.
The second inning went by in a breeze as Strikers duo, Ben Dunk and Kieron Pollard secured 65 runs for 40 balls, and 47 for 22 balls respectively and lead them to an imposing 178.
That saw an end to this season for the Thunders, as they were trailing by a massive 77 runs.
The 6 wicket haul from Sohdi saved the Bottom-placed Adelaide Strikers, with yet another shot at climbing the Big Bash League ranks.
