Asylum Seeker Issue: Foreign Journos Ban

The National Apprenticeship and Trade Testing Board says lack of skilled local workers continues to be a major concern.

The Board's Director, Thomas Kipau, says there is a huge skills gap in the country and this is evident with the high number of foreign workers brought in to work on LNG project sites.

In a bid to off-set the imbalance more locals are encouraged to take up skills training, an annual awards program was established to honour the best final year apprentice.
