Article On France Player, Valerie Gauvin Retracted

An article recently published by one of PNG’s daily newspapers, was retracted yesterday after the credibility of that story was questioned.

The article claimed France player, Valerie Gauvin, who was here for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, to be of Goilala Heritage, in the Central Province.

According to France Coach, Giles Eyquem, that information was misleading.

France player Valerie Gauvin was not available to comment on the claims made that her grandmother is from Goilala, here in the Central Province.

And Coach Giles Eyquem was not so happy about the claims made.

He further stated that, the France Team and Management were really surprised to read that article about Valerie Gauvin, and they do not understand how such a story ran.

The newspaper, who published the story, retracted the article which ran last week.

According to the editor, efforts made by that particular media to get Gauvin to confirm or deny the alleged PNG connections, has been to no avail, due to strict protocols put in place by the France Team Management.

Though the Paper says, it has recordings of the relative and notes of quotes from Valerie Gauvin to back their article.
