AFL Season-Proper Kicks off

Another flaring season for AFL Port Moresby, as they start off their season-proper with ten regulars, including last year’s debutants, Gulf Giants, Central Bombers and Gerehu Magpies.

This season will determine potential players for the NCD side to the PNG Games in Lae.

The 2014 Esiloan AFL premiership kicks off today at the Colts ground in Port Moresby.

Ten teams are on the grounds rejuvenated and ready to take on claim this season’s title against 2013 premier Lamana dockers who won’t be easy beats.

Central bombers I Red and Black stripes took on Defence Hakws in the Senior Division.

Central Bombers debuted last year but is already showing quality on field discipline.

Defence Hawksmeant business and did not give in easily causing bombers few scoring attempts to back in.

Defence took the lead in the first quarter 3.2.20 while the bombers trailed with 3.0.18.

In the second quarter, Bombers came out firing, ready to fly up the Colts ground. But Defence continued to keep them away from the sticks.

In the third and fourth quarters, Defence stuck to their Game plans and were well hired giving a real taste to footy drills.

Finally Bombers bowed out at 5.2.32 letting the winners walk away with 14.10.94 points.

Meanwhile AFL Port Moresby will finalise a train on squad for Team NCD for the PNG games in November.

Ten other provincial teams are confirmed to participate.
