The National Court today’Ordered that the State, its’ servants and agencies refrain from suspending or terminating Sam Koim from the Department of Justice and Attorney General after he raised concerns in his affidavit with evidence that there was political pressure on the department to remove him.
The court ruled that the interim’Orders issued on Tuesday remain; the NEC decision to disband Investigation Task Force Sweep was stayed.
This means ITFS can carry out its normal functions until the matter returns to court next week Wednesday.
“FLOOD ASSISSTANCE” – Ruth Rungula
Prime Minister Peter O&rsquO’Neill today announced that the government will make K5 million available for response and relief efforts in flood-affected provinces of Gulf and Southern Highlands.
Around K600, 000 has already been dispersed by the National Disaster Centre for the emergency provision of tarpaulins for shelter, as well as food and water supplies in Gulf Province.
The provisions are being transported by military barge from Port Moresby to affected areas, to be distributed by smaller boats.
The Prime Minister said the situation in Southern Highlands was less apparent, due to ongoing bad weather hampering assessment activities.
An initial K200, 000 has already been dispersed for emergency supplies to be delivered to the most seriously affected in areas in the Southern Highlands that are accessible.
