Former Judge To Take Up Taskforce Sweep Investigations

Former PNG National Court Judge Graham Ellis, who is now the chairman of the Interim Office Against Corruption, says he is here to continue the work of Investigation Task Force Sweep, which was recently disbanded on claims that it was politicized.

In a statement released today, Justice Ellis said he is not new to PNG and has been following closely the work of ITFS and will meet with Sam Koim soon to ensure the handover of matters from ITFS to this new office is as smooth as possible.

He further said he is determined to see that the fight against corruption is carried on by this new office until the Independent Commission Against Corruption, or ICAC, is established.

He said while there may be suspicions of his appointment to this role, he is consistent with the independence he has brought in his previous roles in PNG and has not communicated with any politicians, including the Prime Minister.
