The government is looking at merging the Office of Rural Development with Provincial government Affairs in order to curb the current misuse of funds.

Vice Minister for Inter-government relations, Joe Sungi, says under the current arrangement, the office pays money directly to districts but it is difficult to trace where that money ends up.
Under provincial affairs, the existing mechanism that has links to the districts will complement ORD functions and allow for better monitoring.
