Daga LLG K1 Million Digicel Investment

Daga Local Level Government in the Milne Bay Province will now benefit from communication services after local MP and National Planning Minister Charles Abel committed K1 million to Digicel PNG to install communication services.

Daga LLG President Sylvester Gwarimia thanked Minister Able for switching on this service for the people. He added that Daga is mountainous on the easterly point of the Owen Stanley Range and is accessible on foot and air only.

The people desperately need communication and transportation services, Mr Gwarimia said.

National Planning Minister Abel said the launch of the communication service was part of the second phase of this public-private collaboration that will later involve the distribution of Wi-Fi/3G tablets initially to four high schools.

The partnership will also shortly bring radio and TV broadcast to the region.

“I am taking this collaborative approach with Digicel to strengthen the operations of public administrations, schools and health centres in the district using communication services.

 A further K1million was committed for 2014.

The Minister and Digicel will continue to work together to bring much needed communication services to the people, bringing people closer together.
