Gore Warns Unitech Students

Higher Education Minister Delilah Gore described the actions of the student as unbecoming of future leaders. She said the students are not acting responsibly.

Ms Gore says the action is direct breach of academic decorum and code of ethics, which is described in the University by Laws and Status.

Minister Gore condemned the continuous boycotting of classes. This issue is of high priority because education is the key to the student’s future. She says engagement with all stakeholders including the former Council, management and members of the student body should find an amicable solution to the issue.

Minister Gore said the Ministry is unable to act on the student’s petition because of legal challenges, instituted by the former University Council.

Ms Gore says if the students fail to return to classes, she will be left with no option but to recommend NEC to declare a State of Emergency at the Campus and closure of 2014 Academic year.
