PNG Games Venue

Lae’s major sporting venues, the Sir Ignatius Kilage indoor and outdoor stadiums, are currently undergoing major renovations in preparation for the PNG Games.

Other sporting venues will also get major facelifts as work begins on games infrastructure in the coming weeks.

With about five months to go before the PNG Games commence, preparations have been slowly taking shape.

The Sir Ignatius Kilage outdoor stadium is expecting the replacement of its synthetic tracks to give athletes a good run during the games.

Games Ambassador Scott Prince, was there yesterday, and was impressed with the progress of the work.

The indoor complex has seen its exterior wall ripped off and renovation work is currently underway.

PNG Games Host Organizing Chairman Phil Franklyn, says the National Government has given K10 million to the HOC. That money will be used for the rehabilitation and maintenance of sporting facilities in the city.

Meanwhile, the PNG Games Committee launched its sponsorship packages, which are up for sale to corporate companies.

One of major packages on offer was the sponsorship and naming rights of the 6th PNG Games.
