QRL Intrust Cup: Magpies Defeated

It was a disappointing 40-12 loss for Souths Logan Magpies against the SP PNG Hunters in Kokopo yesterday.

Despite Heavy downpour, Magpies fought tooth and nail but narrowly succumbed.

Magpies no doubt will be ready to take revenge in their second meet.

It was a match that did not go down well for the visiting Magpies as they narrowly got bashed under the Kokopo’s heavy downpour.

Hunters came back with a winning streak from the last weekend’s match, while the Magpies were desperate for a win.

The Magpies showed class and determination to stop Hunters right at the beginning to go near the post.

But Hunters Speed Star Garry Lo was an exciting machine as he crossed the try lines welcoming his teammates to their new home.

Hooker Wartovo Puara Jnr was fully in control of the ball work seeing Noel Zemming  to score a second.

Zemming successfully converted a kick for the Hunters to lead at 10 while the visitors were yeat to score.

The Magpies tried every attempt to go past the Hunters relentless defense in the second half of the match, but were handicapped as the Hunters proved their worth with home crown advantage sending Garry Lo to the try line for his second.

The Magpies were able to score two, but the Hunters winger was unstoppable as he pocketed two to bring Hunters home winners.

Hunters will continue their home game against Dolphins next weekend, while Magpies take a rest.
