PNG Pepes training squad has reached their final day today of their four day high level training program.
A 20 member training squad braved the scorching Port Moresby heat over the weekend, going through the set program under the watchful eyes of the National Selectors.
The Rita Flynn Netball Court, the home of all netball action, accommodated a 20 member training squad, all vying for 12 national spots in the Pepes Team.
Most of the players are debutants and were out to impress the national selectors.
Head Coach Annie Iamo, was pleased with how the preparation was going; hoping to make a strong side, set for the 3 test Series, including the regional giants, the Fiji Pearls and Northern Ireland. The Pacific Netball Series is another event to count on.
The events are highly by the International Netball Federation, and will determine the World rankings for the team.
The girls were treated to a feast of a high level training program, including Court sessions in the areas of skills, timing, decision-making and ball placement. Footwork, movement, agility and specialist sessions cover defenders, midcourt, and shooters.
The National Selectors were not new; they’ve been there on the court, as players and coaches. The onus is now on Pole Kassman, Alu Ravusiro, Eva Kini, Iamo Launa, and Annie Iamo.
