President of the PNG Energy Workers Association Edward Gisa says that events of the last few months, along with yesterday’s events, are a depiction of the levels of frustration felt among staff. Board Chairman of PNG Power Larry Andagali has given his undertaking to ensure staff grievances are addressed accordingly.
Grievances raised by PNG Power staff include industrial factors relating to outstanding pay, the failure by the Management to come up with an Enterprise Agreement, and the improper and inadequate implementation of government policy directives.
National President of the Papua New Guinea Energy Workers Association, Edward Gisa, fears the worst if these demands are not met. Mr. Gisa says the situation would not have spiraled out of control had the management addressed these in house issues earlier.
