Christine Anu To Open 6th BSP PNG Games

by Lorraine Genia – EM TV, Port Moresby
Following the late announcement of Jessica Mauboy’s exclusion to the opening of the 6th BSP PNG Games in November, the Host Organising Committee was pleased to announce Australia’s most successful indigenous performer, Christine Anu to take the lead in the opening ceremony.

With great disappointment, Jessica Mauboy’s manager David Champion stated, “Unfortunately Jessica will be unable to travel to PNG for the PNG Games in November, but is hoping to visit PNG again in the near future.”

Chairman of the PNG Games Host Organising Committee, Phil Franklin said “whilst deeply disappointed the Games simply must go on.”

Multi ARIA music award winner, with two decades of platinum albums, Christine Anu makes for the perfect replacement.

Known for her reputable single released in 1995, ‘My Island Home’, Christine’s lyrics are in parallel to one of the main objectives of the PNG Games – to promote national unity and provincial pride.

The opening of the 6th BSP Games will be on the 16th of November and will be telecasted live on EM TV.
