Three top International Cricket Council delegates were in the country to meet and discuss cricket issues.
This follows the recent accreditation to One Day International Status (ODI) by Cricket PNG.
The Hebou PNG Barramundi’s recent T20 World Cup Qualifiers has brought with it, a significant price tag.
Barras achieved a milestone for Cricket PNG as they finished fourth on the Super 6 stage and claiming One Day International or ODI Status.
This has sparked the International Cricket Council to see PNG as a potential cricket developing country.
Richardson is the Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council or ICC and was accompanied by ICC Chairman Alan Isaac and ICC Global Development Manager Timothy Anderson.
They had a privilege to meet with Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and this was what Mr. O’Neill replied when asked about developing the cricket venues ready to utilize the requirements and privileges of ODI status.
Now with the ODI Status, it opens the door for Cricket PNG to host One Day International Matches and could also include the test playing nations as well.
With the 2015 World Cup set to be hosted by Australia and New Zealand, there could be opportunities for countries to play several warm up matches against the Hebou Barras en route to the World Cup.
Anderson is not new in the country. He was here 10 years ago.
He is now the head of the ICC Global Development programs and works with 96 associate or affiliated members of the 106 ICC member countries.
Ten of the countries are full- members including Australia and New Zealand.
The Barras have jumped rankings from 19th to 16th and have also secured significant funding froth the ICC.
