First 40 Graduates From Kungumunda Training Center

Kungumunda Foursquare Community Health Training Center in Enga province graduated its’ first 40 students last week.

These health workers will now be posted to various health centers throughout the province.

 

Witnessing the graduation of these pioneers were Health and HIV/AIDS Minister, Michael Malabag, Health Secretary, Pascoe Kase, and Enga Governor, Peter Ipatas.

 

Kungumanda Foursquare Community Health Workers Training School in the Tsak valley of Enga province not only operates a health facility but has a Health Community Workers Training School – the only one in the province.

 

 Forty men and women graduated with certificates in community health.

 

Enga Governor Peter Ipatas, speaking at the graduation ceremony, commended the Foursquare church in providing this service in training people to be health workers.

 

Governor Ipatas said education and health are two priority policies for his government. He said education and health work hand-in–hand.

 

He also made mention of his government’s investment in building a five star hospital for the province.

 

Minister Malabag called on the Health Department to immediately engage these new graduates in the workforce.

 

He commended church-run organizations for their partnership in supporting the government’s health and education policies.

 

Minister Malabag said the government has already committed K6 million to assist health training centers in the country.

 

The Secretary for Health, Kase, said these new health workers will help address the current situation of shortages of health workers in public hospitals.
