The sporting code of bowling is gaining popularity in Lae city with the inception of the Corporate Bowls competition.
Twenty-six corporate companies in Lae have registered a team in the competition.
Many amateurs are taking part with help and guidance from professional bowlers.
The Lae corporate Bowls competition started four years ago with corporate teams taking part in the competition at the Lae Bowling Club. This year saw the biggest number of corporate teams that have registered in the competition that is slowly gaining popularity in Lae.
The games are played every Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm with teams comprising of corporate company staff, families, friends and professional bowlers. The interest in the sport has attracted people from all age groups to take part in the competition.
The main idea of the competition is not only to bring together corporate companies, but also to develop an association of bowlers in Lae. Players who have participated in the past four years since the inception of the competition in Lae, have greatly developed their skills in bowling.
Invitations are extended to interested people to join the competition.
