Public servants in Papua New Guinea have been warned to perform and deliver to the national government’s expectations.
Personnel Management Department Secretary, John Kali sounded the alarm that public servants must be held accountable and responsible. Those failing to comply will be dealt with accordingly.
The new appointment process and performance management system under the new Public Service Management Act 2014 ensures public service leaders perform to the peoples expectations and implement the national government’s game of service delivery.
Critical areas of improvement are focused in leadership, performance management systems and productivity. The new public service law was revised to accommodate appointment processes following the removal of the public service commission and central agencies coordination committee.
Since the O’Neill-Dion government took office, there was a priority to iron our issues within the public service machinery in delivering goals and objectives.
Kali says the new law institutionalises performance management systems and concentrates on achieving results.
