Menyamya District has reached a major education milestone, with students from the Menyamya Flexible Open and Distance Education (FODE) Centre sitting the national FODE examination for the first time in the district’s history.

The achievement was confirmed by Menyamya District Education Services on October 21, 2026, marking the culmination of years of effort to bring second-chance education closer to school leavers.

District Education Manager Justin Phillip commended FODE Coordinator Hawalu Narina for his tireless commitment and leadership in making the vision a reality after five to six years of challenges and setbacks in FODE coordination.

“This long-awaited vision has finally come to fruition through effective stewardship and dedication,” Mr Phillip said.

He also acknowledged the dedicated class tutors and lecturers whose perseverance ensured students were adequately prepared for the national examination.

The district education office wished all students sitting the examination every success.

Mr Phillip said the district would continue to support FODE and called on all Grade 8, Grade 10 and Grade 12 school leavers and dropouts to take advantage of the programme in 2027.

“This doorstep education programme provides a second chance for all who wish to continue their studies and secure a brighter future,” he said.

Menyamya District currently has adult literacy programmes, early childhood education, primary schools, a high school, a secondary school, a vocational training centre and a FODE centre, with plans underway to establish inclusive education.

The district’s guiding principle is “No Child Left Behind – Education for All,” which aligns with the Government’s national education plans and targets for a better Menyamya.
