ICAC CHARGES RPNGC DEPUTY COMMISSIONER WITH MISAPPROPRIATION

The Independent Commission Against Corruption has arrested and charged Royal PNG Constabulary Deputy Commissioner Samson Kua with one count of misappropriation over the alleged misuse of police travel funds.

ICAC alleges that between September 2024 and March 2025, Mr Kua used RPNGC UATP Travel Account funds, intended for official police travel, to pay for his family’s personal domestic travel totaling approximately K14,692.50.

The matter was referred to ICAC by the Police Commissioner as required under Section 45 of the Organic Law on the Independent Commission Against Corruption.

Mr Kua was produced before the Waigani Magistrates Court on the afternoon of 3 September 2026. He was released on K3,000 cash bail with two sureties of K500 each. The matter has been adjourned for mention on 11 September 2026.

ICAC acknowledged the cooperation of the Office of the Police Commissioner and the RPNGC throughout the investigation.
