MADANG FC PLAYER SELECTION ROLLING INTO FINAL STAGE

Madang FC is finalising its Panu training squad as it prepares to make its return to the top PNG football arena.

The Panu squad has been trimmed to 15 players following the conclusion of the Rookes Marine preseason competition in Madang.

Panu 1 and Panu 2 were formed from selected players who took part in the LLG Governor’s Cup across the six districts. After three days of trial matches conducted by Madang FC, players were grouped into the two Panu teams to compete in the preseason tournament for further screening and selection.

Both teams delivered competitive performances during the pool matches but were knocked out before the finals. Despite this, the preseason achieved its aim of identifying top talents to progress into the provincial club setup.

Madang Soccer Association president and Interim Board Chairman of Madang FC, Siegfried Beschel, said the selection process reduced 85 players from the LLG competitions down to 15.

“We must make sure Madang FC has representation from each of the six districts. That is the vision of Madang Governor Hon. Ramsey Pariwa,” Beschel said.

He encouraged those who missed out not to lose hope.

“If you didn’t make it this time, don’t feel discouraged. There will be more Governor’s competitions coming up where you can showcase your skills again,” he said.

Newly appointed Manager Terence Sisu thanked the interim board and the Madang Provincial Events Committee for their trust.

“The idea of having players from all districts in Madang FC has been a long-time dream. Today, that dream has become a reality,” Sisu said.

Following the competition, 15 players have been selected from the Panu squad to join Madang Football Club, alongside other players chosen from the Madang Soccer Association.

At Laiwaden Oval, Panu players witnessed the official handover of club management. Interim Manager Alfred Ruenu handed over to newly appointed Manager Terence Sisu following a board decision.

The club’s technical team has been confirmed, with Amos Romo appointed as Head Coach, assisted by Nigel Malagian and David Galadia.

With the squad now finalised, Madang FC moves forward with a clear mission to build a strong provincial team grounded in district talent and unity.
