GOVERNOR APPEALS FOR PEACE

The recent beheading of a local on Karkar Island in Madang Province has disturbed peace in communities, creating tension among the villages.
In response, Madang Governor Ramsey Pariwa expressed that the incident has portrayed a bad image of the beautiful Madang Province.
The incident occurred at Kinim Station on Karkar Island.
Governor Pariwa stated that the unlawful actions of some individuals resulted in two additional deaths and is calling on all parties involved to allow the law to take its course.
He said death is not the way forward to resolving community issues.
The people of Gial and Urugen are urged to support the police so that peace can be reinstated.
Meanwhile, through a directive from the Provincial Police Commander, Acting Superintendent Robert Baim, a task force team was deployed to the island to restore order on the ground.
Pariwa acknowledged the Madang PPC for the reinforcement and is appealing to local residents responsible for the unlawful killing to surrender.
