STUDENTS IN BANZ SAT FOR EXAM DESPITE TENSION OVER TEACHER’S DEATH

Despite a week suspension of a school in Jiwaka province following the death of a serving teacher, the grade eight students joined the rest of grade eight students nationwide and sat for their national exam.

A total of 192 grade eight students of St Anslem Catholic Primary School have sat for their exams today, confirmed by the school principal Samson Kupun.

Kupun said they are still mourning the death of one of their teachers who was killed by the locals in North Wagi district.

However, the students were given the opportunity to exercise their right to education.

“Students are innocent that is why we still had classes and everything will go back to normal and that is what we have now on the ground,” Kupun said.

He said the they will be using the St. Anslem parish for the duration of the exam as he thanked the Catholic agency for allocating for the hall allocation.

The school board are also working with the local police to ensure the area is safe for the students to and from their homes to the exam venue to until the exam concludes and normal classes continues.
