An agreement was signed between the FPDA MVF project and the Center for Excellence and Financial Inclusion (CEFI) recently, to train 42 new Trainers in Financial Literacy and provide 3 refresher trainings to other trainers under the program.
Once the trainers are certified by CEFI they will retail this training to farmers out in the communities.
According to FPDA MVF Project Manager Joe Koima CEFI will also provide support in monitoring the retail trainings at the community level to ensure they are delivered to the same standard.
This partnership seeks to address the need for financial literacy at the community level.
Koima said the farmers produce, sell crop and earn money, but learning how to calculate expenses, profit and savings is a challenge.
He said the trainings will be accompanied by outreach banking services so that the farmers will be equipped with knowledge of savings and also open their bank accounts to start saving up.
