SILAG SPECIAL PROCUREMENT COMMITTEE MEMBERS ENDORSE

The special procurement committee members from Somare Institute of Leadership and Governance were endorsed yesterday under section 28 of the amended National Procurement Act 2001.
SILAG Chief executive officer Michael Barobe said that the commission of oath signed yesterday to show their commitment to work together to ensure that the board functions accordingly by law of the National Procurement Commission financial management act under management to ensure the committee performs well.
“I want to thank the APC committee, secretary treasury for endorsing SILAG to have this committee, simply to procurer things that are needed here.” Barobe said.
He said SILAG has been mandated to be a university for public service alone and this institute turns 71 years.
Barobe said this committee will work together with the NPC to ensure the development and necessary infrastructure for the university.
And they are looking forward to the development to ensure SILAG becomes a university for public services in PNG.
Representing the National Procurement Commission Jim Wiai, while appreciating SILAG stated that by reviewing the committee he believes that this committee will procure goods and services going forward.
“The committee that is comprise of public and private sector, the powers that they will exercises that means that power comes from secretarial.” Wiai said.
He said according to the law, one million up to five million the committee can procure but it has to be publicly tendered.
The committee will be in a term of three years.
