PELGEN CONDEMNS BRUTAL KILLING OF INNOCENT CITIZENS IN LAE

Member for Nawaeb Electorate in Morobe, Theo Pelgen has condemned the brutal killing of four innocent people in Lae this week.
The incident, which occurred at Kapiak Street, One Mile, has been described by Pelgen as “senseless and barbaric,” and a tragic reflection of violence that has no place in modern society.
“LAE CITY has no place for such people,” Pelgen said.
“Police must come down hard on the perpetrators. Anyone found harboring them must be removed from Morobe Province immediately.”
He supports the calls made by Deputy Prime Minister and member for Lae, John Rosso and Finschhafen Member Rainbo Paita for the immediate eviction of those responsible, including individuals closely connected to the incident.
While preliminary reports suggest the violence may have been triggered by allegations of theft, Pelgen emphasized that “killing people in broad daylight is unacceptable under any circumstance.”
He further thanked the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary in containing the situation and urged swift arrests and severe penalties for all involved.
“Lae is a multicultural and multi-ethnic city. There is no place here for barbaric actions or those who seek to divide our communities through violence,” he said.
“I will also support the introduction and passing of Vagrancy Act in Parliament soon as it will act as a monitoring mechanism to ensure genuine movement of persons from Province to Province.”
