NEW FUEL STATION FOR POPONDETTA

By Mimi Pio

Y and C Enterprise Limited has officially opened its new fuel station in the centre of Popondetta town yesterday, aiming to supply fuel in Oro Province.

Provincial Administrator Trevor Magei said the project signifies the government’s effort.

“We are now as a province elevating the status of Popondetta town to be a ‘Third Tier’ city in the country.” he said.

The station was officially opened by Mr. Magei, who welcomed the development.

Magei noted that this kind of progress supports the provincial government’s efforts to elevate Popondetta to a ‘Third Tier’ city in the country.

The project marks a major step in expanding essential services to the region and also provides job opportunities for the residents and locals in the area.

Service Station Manager Kevin Chan said the company saw a need for fuel services in the province and worked in partnership with Islands Petroleum to invest in this new facility.

“We’re very happy to work with local business partners and the government,” Chan said.

He also noted that the project has already created employment opportunities, particularly for local youths who were previously unemployed.

“Some of the young people in the community are already engaged with us,” he said.

The station will operate daily from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm offering Diesel, Petrol, and Zoom to customers.
