EYE OPERATION END

The eye operation program conducted at the Kainantu hospital in Goroka started two weeks ago and ended over the weekend.

Ophthalmogist doctors and nurses travelled into Kainantu hospital in Goroka Eastern Highland province two weeks ago to carry out the eye operation.

Patients travelled in from Momase and Highlands region to be treated. 

Some patients were accommodated and fed by the hospital with the support from the Kainantu mine during the two weeks operation.

Total of 1379 patients registered while 459 underwent eye surgery.

Eastern Highlands Provincial Health Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr. Joseph Apa was very impressed with the work of Ophthalmologist’s doctors and nurses who came from other provinces in PNG to assist his team for two weeks.

Team leader and senior ophthalmologist Dr David Pahau thanked Eastern Highland Provincial Health Authority for funding the program which is really helpful and benefited people from other parts of highlands and momase region.
