Six seasonal workers off to Australia

Southern Highlands Provincial Government sent six men to Australia under the Seasonal Worker Program.

Of the six, four are returning workers and two are new. All six, will be working on a poultry farm in Queensland.

SHP Governor, William Powi, said his province is proud to send workers down south.

“The two new recruits are the first recruited under our new regional recruitment program. They are trusted workers from rural areas of Southern Highlands Province, experienced farmers who are also upstanding citizens.

“They are ambassadors for Southern Highlands Province and will encourage Australian employers to recruit more workers from our province.”

Governor Powi commended his administration for mobilizing the new workers.

“We only send the best workers to Australia. We worked hard to select these workers, train them and mobilize them quickly,” he said.

He thanked the Marape Government for the opportunity.

Powi stated that the Marape Government is setting ambitious goals for such programs in ensuring that farmers in rural areas have the opportunity to go to Australia for work and to earn money.

“Not just that, but the skills they learn in Australia will help develop the agriculture industry here in Southern Highlands Province.”

“We look forward to their return and will ask them to train other farmers and help develop SHP’s agriculture industry,” he concluded.
