A National Court Bail of K1,000 each has been granted for the two PNGDF Personnel charged for the murder of NCD Zone Three Commander, Andrew Tovere.
Acting National Court Judge, Justice Paul Tusais granted the bail this afternoon with strict bail conditions that both accused must report to the National Court Registry every second Monday.
The two men, James Supa and Richard Ule were accused of assaulting Tovere whilst he was enforcing a State of Emergency Liquor Ban in Port Moresby near the PNGDF Air Transport Wing in May. Tovere later died from the injuries he sustained during the assault and that led to the arrest of the PNGDF Personnel.
Earlier today, Justice Tusais told the state lawyer to assist the court with information on whether the two PNGDF Personnel charged with Wilful Murder completed their interview with police or if the police left them in the custody of the Correctional Service.
Justice Tusais said this is an important case with serious allegations and the State must submit bail conditions during the bail application.
Since their arrest in May, both PNGDF Personnel have been remanded in Bomana Prison.
Meanwhile, their case will be called for the second-mentioned before the Waigani District Court next week.
