Borneo Pacific Pharmaceutical Limited today appeared before the Public Accounts Committee in an introductory meeting, as the first step of the PAC’s inquiry into government contracts for the procurement of medical supplies and drugs in the country.

“In August 14th 2019, Health Secretary announced that Borneo Pacific had been awarded this year’s contract to supply medical supplies and kits.” Sir John Pundari said.

The chairman said, the inquiry will be conducted in seven stages.

He said, as part of the first stage, the PAC will look into the history of the procurement process and how it was awarded to PAC.

“The committee as part of stage six will conduct visitations to selected provinces, and their health facilities,” the Chairman said.

“Part seven of the inquiry will be an inquiry to conclude,” he added.

Sir Pundari also pointed out that the inquiry is a result of public outcry in the country, and all that has been in the media.

“I must also specifically state, in no certain terms that this is not about any of us as members of the committee have a personal vendetta against any individual for that matter.” The chairman said.

The first hearing into the inquiry will commence at 10 am tomorrow, which will see representatives from the Borneo and the Health Department answering questions from the PAC.

Borneo Pacific Pharmaceuticals Limited chairman Martin Poh who tried to make a comment was advised by the chairman that he would be given an opportunity to speak during the hearing tomorrow.
