A Tip-off to Police has led to the successful apprehension of three drug suspects in Port Moresby. Among the three, was also a minor involved.
The drug seizure was made by the police Canine Unit – led by Sergeant Dominic Nassam.
Sergeant Nassam and his team were heading back to the Dog Unit Base when they received a tip off.
The Police Unit discovered a large amount of marijuana neatly packed in 10 bags, hidden amongst empty cans.
This is the first drug bust in 2019, but what is more alarming is that a minor was also among the suspects apprehended.
A national court judge says penalties imposed on those convicted for drug related offences are too lenient.
Under the Criminal Code Act, those found guilty of drug offences can be sentenced to no more than two years imprisonment.
