The southern region consultations for the draft Disability Authority Bill 2018 ended last week Friday.

The general public gathered to discuss and present their views and contributions in consultation of the Draft Bill.

Department for Community Development & Religion Deputy Secretary, Jeane Sliviak, was grateful to the participants, and satisfied with the Southern region consultation outcomes.

The southern region consultations started on Tuesday, 01st May and ended on Friday, 11th, May.

The Constitutional and Law Reform Commission (CLRC) has constructed the legal framework of the draft bill and it is now open to the general public, service providers, public servants, and persons with disabilities to critique and review.

Drafts and Advisory, Legal Officer, Watson Simiong said they have noted many new additions, one of which is the inclusion of Invisible disabilities.

The Department of Community Development will now start consultations in other regions. The process will take about a year, before the Bill is presented in parliament.
