The Waigani Supreme Court has fined Vanimo Green River MP, Belden Namah, a sum of K4,250 and recommended for his dismissal. The unanimous decision by the Leadership Tribunal was delivered by the National and Supreme Court Judge, Justice Terrence Higgins, this morning before a packed courtroom.

Namah has been found guilty of seven counts of Misconduct in Office. These counts date back to 2012 when Namah stormed the courtroom in Waigani and demanded the arrest of Chief Justice, Sir Salamo Injia.

The counts include inference with administrative process, involving the suspension of the Vanimo Green River District Administrator and failure to provide annual statements. According to the verdict, there were 15 counts of misconduct laid against Namah, however, the public prosecutor had only pursued five.
