Unitech Alumni Association to be Launched

By Julie Badui Owa – EMTV News, Lae

The PNG University of Technology Alumni Association will be officially launched in Lae on Thursday, by Minister for National Planning, Richard Maru. Since the first four Papua New Guinea graduates in 1970, the University has produced close to 20,000 graduates in the last 50 years.

The University’s Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Ora Renagi, said the University saw this as an opportune time to set up a network to collaborate and bring developments.

Many of the graduates have been involved in the development of the country in different capacities. With the number of graduates and wealth of knowledge and experience, the University decided to bring together its alumni to help develop the institution.

Unitech’s Alumni Association was registered last year with the Investment Promotion Authority (IPA). The Association has an Executive Committee formed by ex-students of the University of Technology and is led by the Interim President, Mr. Ernie Gangloff.

The University’s Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Ora Renagi says the committee is yet to confirm the projects they will be engaged in.

Former graduates of Unitech can register with a membership fee of K100 to the account below.
Account Name: PNG Unitech (PNGUOT) Alumni Inc. Account #: 7013078741. Bank: BSP.
