Body of Late Kato Ottio Taken to Tatana Village after Convoy Around City

The body of the late Kato Ottio was taken on a convoy around the nation’s capital, before arriving at Tatana Village yesterday afternoon. The body was taken from the funeral home to the National Football Stadium, where the convoy began.

The convoy was led by a police escort, followed by Coach Michael Marum and the SP PNG Hunters team. From the NFS, the body was driven through Manu Autoport, and down to Sabama.

People lined the sides of the road to pay their last respects as Ottio was taken past. From Sabama, the body was taken through Kaugere, and out through to Koki.

As the convoy continued, many vehicles joined in the group to escort the casket home. They went through downtown Port Moresby, and around to Konedobu.

Then he was taken into Hanuabada village. Fans held up signs on the sides of the road to welcome Ottio.

From Hanuabada, he was taken to Kanudi, then up to the back road via Atlas Steel, to Baruni village, then into Tatana. People threw flowers on to the vehicle, welcoming the Rugby League star home.

He was then carried into the house escorted by the SP PNG Hunters team, and PNGRFL staff.
