Security Forces Beef up in Mendi Town

The level of security in Mendi town has increased.

Security Forces both from the Police Force and PNG Defense Force are mending the town with road blocks established in all roads connecting into the town area.

Security Forces say threats were issued by some community leaders to stop the first Provincial Executive Council meeting and swearing in of Southern Highlands Provincial Assembly members.

Meanwhile, Governor William Powi and other members of the assembly are awaiting the arrival of Ialibu-Pangia MP and Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill from Port Moresby.

The meeting will be held at the Agiru Centre.
