Some elementary teachers in Morobe Province have waited for more than four years for their pay.
They have sought clarifications regarding the delay of their pay from both the district and provincial levels og government.
The Provincial Education Advisor for Morobe told EMTV News in Lae that the provincial elementary officers are currently at the PNG Education Institute in Port Moresby to sort out the issue.
The teachers were told by the Provincial Education Department to pay K1,300 to attend a teacher training in Markham District in 2015, in order to be registered as a qualified elementary teacher.
However, the training was nullified and they did not graduate with certificates as promised.
It is understood, most of the teachers who attended the training are ones with Grade 10 qualifications.
These teachers were told that they would not be paid by the Government because they are not qualified and that they would have to upgrade their qualifications to Grade 12 to be put on the payroll.
Being affected by this, the teachers are calling on the Provincial Education Board to seriously look into the matter.
The delay of the clarification of their teaching service is between the Provincial Education Department of Morobe and the PNG Education Institute.
