ExxonMobil PNG, operators of the PNGLNG Project, have welcomed positive news of a high quality discovery of gas reserves at the Muruk-1 field.
The well, drilled by PNGLNG partner, Oil Search Limited has been described as containing quality gas reserves similar to that of the Hides Gas fields, which currently underpins the PNGLNG Project.
Oil Search Limited commenced drilling of the Muruk-1 well in November last year, which is located in Petroleum Prospecting License 402, which covers about 510 square kilometres.
ExxonMobil PNG Managing Director, Andrew Barry, made these remarks, when speaking with EMTV’s Business PNG Program.
He says the quality of this discovery provides another option for the expansion of the PNGLNG Project – a project which has put the country on the international stage.
